Schmigadoon Sweeps the Chita Rivera Awards. Lifetime Achiever Ann-Margret: “I could always find the rhythm.”

Schmigadoon,” the Broadway musical adaptation of a TV series that affectionately parodies Broadway musicals from the Golden Age, won outstanding choreography, outstanding ensemble and two of the three outstanding dancers in a Broadway show at  the 2026 Chita Rivera Awards for dance and choreography on Broadway and the movies, presented tonight at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.

More typically, these theater dance awards spread the love: Both last year, and the year before, for example, four different musicals were represented among the winners.

It is worth noting that the Chita Rivera Awards gave “Off Broadway Special Recognition” last year to “CATS: The Jellicle Ball,” when it was running Off-Broadway, before its move this year to Broadway.
