A Strange Loop won best musical and its creator Michael R. Jackson won for best book at the 75th Tony Awards, but no show swept, with 11 (out of the 29 shows nominated) capturing at least one Tony. “The Lehman Trilogy” won best play and four other awards, “Take Me Out” best play revival and one other award, “Company” best musical revival and four other awards.
The quartet of awards for leading roles went to Myles Frost of “MJ,” (which won three other awards) Joaquina Kalukango of “Paradise Square” (which won none of the other nine awards for which it had been nominated), Simon Russell Beale of “The Lehman Trilogy,” and Deirdre O’Connell of “Dana H” (which also won for best sound design.)
