Moulin Rouge won ten awards, including best musical in the much-delayed 74th annual Tony Awards, honoring the much-truncated 2019-2020 Broadway season, selected from 18 eligible shows, which opened between April of 2019 and February of 2020. It is, perhaps fittingly, the only winning show that’s currently running on Broadway, having reopened on Friday. The Inheritance won best play, and A Soldier’s Play best revival of a play. (There was no category of best musical revival.) The winners were announced at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theater — live-streamed from 7 to 9 pm behind the paywall at Paramount+, then broadcast on CBS from 9 to 11, featuring a concert and the winners of the three top awards. (Tony Night Memorable Moments and Contradictions.)
