Ben Platt reprises his Tony-winning role as an anxious, isolated high school student in the film of the 2017 Tony winning best Broadway musical “Dear Evan Hansen,” scheduled for release on September 24, 2021 “only in theaters” — meaning not online, which is ironic considering that the show revolves around the prevalence and perils of the online nation that youth has become.
