Puppets on Stage in November

,There are puppets in long-running New York shows like “The Lion King” and “The Little Shop of Horrors,” muppets are making their Broadway debut (albeit briefly) in “Rob Lake Magic with special guests the Muppets.” Below is a list of puppet shows in November, and shows that feature puppets.


The Burning Cauldron of Fiery Fire (Vineyard)


In this play written by Anne Washburn (“Mr Burns A Post-Electric Play”), an intentional community somewhere in foggy Northern California tries to live off the land and keep an unsteady world at bay – until one of their own dies unexpectedly.

The Colors of Frida (Teatro Sea)
November 8 at 3 p.m.


The story of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo is told through music and puppetry in this bilingual production with three actors representing different moments of her life.

A grim tale from the Brothers Grimm about a young woman who makes a deal with a magical man to help her spin straw into gold, adapted for marionettes by Nicolas Coppola, with an original score and special effects (55 minutes, suggested for ages 3 and up)

Hand to God (Gallery Players)

A revival of Robert Askins’ Tony-nominated play about Jason, who seeks solace at a Christian Puppet Ministry after the death of his father, but his hand puppet Tyrone, has a devilish mind of its own. “Hand to God contains explicit adult themes…and is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16.”
