Election 2024: Where, how, when to vote

Election Day is in one month from today, November 5, 2024. Here’s what you need to know in order to vote in the General Election in New York City.

Registration

In order to vote in New York, you have to be registered. If you haven’t registered to vote in New York, you must do so by October 26, 2024. The board of elections must receive your registration by that date in person, online or by mail.

Any registered voter can apply for a Ballot by Mail
Request online or by mail by October 26.

Early Voting

Early voting is available from October 26 to November 3. The poll site is different for early voting than on Election Day, and the hours of operation differ (See link below.)

Voting on Election Day Tuesday, November 5 is from 6 am to 9 pm

You’ll see that the sample ballot list elections for more than just the President and Vice President of the United States. My sample ballot also lists elections for U.S. Senator, Justice of the (NY) Supreme Court, Judge of the Civil Court, Representative in Congress, State Senator, Member of the Assembly, and six Proposals.
