Watch the six minute video below of Lin-Manuel Miranda celebrating the return of Broadway in September, managing quick-hit homages to some dozen Broadway musicals, from “Six” to “Hamilton,” before a Hamilton tune, “You’ll Be Back,” is repurposed (with new hopeful lyrics), enlisting Jimmy Fallon, Phylicia Rashad, Kristin Chenoweth, Christopher Jackson and Laura Benanti, as well as Jimmy Smits and Olga Merediz, two of the stars of the new movie version of Miranda’s musical “In The Heights,” which opens tomorrow.
First Miranda sits at the piano singing:
Broadway oh Broadway
You’re finally coming back
I miss drinking wine out of sip cups
And a $20 snack
A night at the theater
My favorite kind of date
I even miss the people
who always show up late
It ends the way many a Broadway show does — with confetti.
