Shakina Nayfack presents her “Manifest Pussy,” taken from footage at the Public Theater, 8pm, described as “a rock concert/standup special/ritual sacrifice that follows Shakina’s pilgrimage to Thailand for gender confirmation.” She sings songs from ten cutting-edge New York theater composers, including Joe Iconis (Be More Chill), Shaina Taub (Public Works’ Twelfth Night), Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop) It’ll be up for 24 hours on the Musical Theater Factory site (below) then switch to Shakina’s personal YouTube channel.
The 24 Hour Plays launches Round 6 of its Instagram theater shorts tonight. What makes this new is that the four-minute shows are all musicals: Viral Musicals will stream on IGTV @24hourplays, every 20 minutes from 6 pm to 9:30 p.m. The dozen performers this week include Jelani Alladin, Daveed Diggs, John Gallagher Jr, and Sarah Steele.(Note to producers: We’d be perfectly happy with HALF as many shows each week.)
The first one is “Five Minutes in this Hallway.” Music by Rona Siddiqui, Book and Lyrics by Kristoffer Diaz. Performed by Jelani Alladin.
There’s more — LOTS more. (Check out Where To Get Your Theater Fix Online, and also Calendar of April “Openings”) But how much can you see in one evening? And what if you would rather read, or get to sleep early? (
