“This is definitely the room where it happened,” President Barack Obama said at the beginning of the daylong visit to the White House of the cast of the Broadway musical Hamilton.
The president meant that seven years earlier, Lin-Manuel Miranda was invited to perform at the White House, and he announced he was going to perform a song from a hip-hop album “’about the life of somebody who embodies hip-hop, Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton.’ So we all started laughing….Who’s laughing now?”
