A 16-second video in which Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker pose in front of one or more cameras to promote their roles star Amanda Peet’s playwriting debut, The Commons of Pensacola, a Manhattan Theatre Club production that began previews October 22 and opens November 21st at New York City Center’s Stage I. The play marks the return to a New York stage for Sarah Jessica Parker for the first time in some 15 years. Blythe Danner was just in “Nice Work If You Can Get It” earlier this year.
Here is how the producers describe the play: “Judith has been divested of her assets and forced to leave her luxurious New York life after her husband’s Wall Street scam became headline news. When her daughter Becca and Becca’s filmmaker boyfriend pay Judith a visit to the one bedroom condo Judith now occupies in Pensacola, Florida, everyone’s motives are called into question. How will past and present circumstances inform how this family moves into the future?”
