Johnny Rabe will play Ralphie in A Christmas Story , The Musical, based on the 1983 movie, which is scheduled to play at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater on Broadway  from November  5 to December 30, with an opening night of November 19. Joe West will play the role at some performances. Both are making their Broadway debuts.

A description of the musical:

“In 1940’s Indiana, a bespectacled boy named Ralphie has a big imagination and one wish for Christmas — a Red Ryder BB gun. A kooky leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a cranky department store Santa and a triple-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the obstacles that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas dream.”

The score is by the up-and-coming team of composer-lyricists,  Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dogfight), John Rando directs, other cast members include Dan Lauria (Lombardi), John Bolton, Erin Dilly, Caroline O’Connor.
