New York Musical Theatre Festival “hub” on 42nd Street has banners of some of the 21 full productions, some featuring major Broadway talent.

Since 2004 when it began, the New York Musical Theatre Festival has produced some 300 new musicals, including a few that went on to great fame and popularity, such as Next to Normal, Altar Boyz, title of show. (Chaplin, which appeared at the festival in 2006, is opening on Broadway in September).

This year’s festival, from July 9th to 29th, 2012, features 21 full productions. A press preview presented songs from 10. Three videos of songs from the 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival, sung by Broadway veterans and newcomers, are below:

Danny Quadrino (Bye-Bye Birdie) sings “I Stalk You A Little Bit” from Trouble:A New Rock Musical (described as 24 hours in the lives of seven teenagers that changes everything)

The cast of Rio, a musical based on “Oliver Twist” moved to Brazil in the 21st century, sing “My Carnaval”

Leslie Kritzer (A Catered Affair, Sonheim on Sondheim) sings the title song to “A Letter To Harvey Milk”
