“Schmigadoon!” is continuing its winning streak, receiving the Dorian Theater Awards’ Outstanding Broadway Musical. “Prince Faggot” dominated the Off-Broadway categories.
Joshua Henry won lead performance in a musical, one of three awards given to”Ragtime,” including Outstanding Musical Revival and Outstanding Broadway Ensemble.
“The Balusters” and “Giant” tied for Outstanding Broadway Play, while Giant’s John Lithgow snagged lead performance in a play.
The awards, now in their fourth year, are chosen by the members of the theater wing of GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics to celebrate both mainstream achievements and works that reflect LGBTQ+ themes and perspectives. It includes some unique categories. Costume designer Qween Jean was anointed as LGBTQ Theater Artist of the Season, and Junior LaBeija as LGBTQ Theater Trailblazer
