2025 New York Drama Critics Circle Awards: Purpose, Maybe Happy Ending, Andrew Scott, David Greenspan

“Purpose,” which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama earlier today, has now been selected as the best play of the 2024-2025 season by The New York Drama Critics’ Circle, which also awarded Best Musical to Maybe Happy Ending, at the organization’s 89th annual voting meeting.

The critics awarded Best Individual Performance to Andew Scott for Vanya, and Best Ensemble Performance to the cast of Liberation — both of which are newly-created award categories.

Special Citations were given to: Cole Escola for Oh, Mary!; Cats: The Jellicle Ball; and David Greenspan for lifetime achievement.
