“Merrily We Roll Along” and “Oh, Mary!” received the most love at the Second Annual Dorian Theater Awards, winning four categories apiece, while “Stereophonic” won three awards, including Outstanding Broadway play, and Illinoise was voted both Outstanding Broadway Musical and Outstanding LGBTQ Broadway Production. Selected by the recently formed theater wing of GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, the Dorians honored the best of Broadway and Off-Broadway in the 2023-2024 season, “mainstream to LGBTQ+.” Cole Escola was voted LGBT Theater Artist of the Season and Paula Vogel the LGBTQ Theater Trailblazer Award, for her lifelong contributions to the American theater, as well as to her ongoing support of the LGBTQ community.
