“This campaign has always been about fighting for anybody who’s gotten knocked down that ever got back up,” John Fetterman said in his victory speech early this morning after he was called the winner of the race for the U.S. Senate from Pennsylvania.
Watch a video of the speech below, in which he says:
“I’m proud of what we ran on: protecting a woman’s right to choose, raising our minimum wage, fighting for the union way of life, healthcare as a fundamental human right; it saved my life and it should be there for you if you ever should need it. Standing up to corporate greed, making more things right here in America, right here in Pennsylvania, and standing up for our democracy….”
His speech — eloquent, passionate — is a stunning rebuke to all the prejudiced and corrosive assumptions about people who have disabilities, whether temporary or permanent.
