This ninth annual #GivingTuesday (created in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation) is unlike any that have gone before it for New York area theaters, theater companies, and theater organizations. All are under crisis because of COVID-19, at the same time that so many potential donors are themselves suffering so much.
Below, an alphabetical list of more than 100 New York theaters and theater companies, with links to their home page or donate page,. But first a shorter list of theater charities, service, advocacy and educational organizations based in New York.
I’ve put an asterisk next to those organizations that Charity Navigator has given its highest ratings (for accountability, transparency, financial health and results.)
There are other ways to show your support. Most of these organizations welcome volunteers — indeed, rely on volunteers.
