Broadway at Super Bowl LIII. Skittles Commercial: The Broadway Musical, Plus Ads with Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Chenoweth, Bob Dylan

No other company went as full-Broadway as Skittles, which, in lieu of a commercial during the Super Bowl, staged on Super Bowl Sunday a one-day, 40-minute live “Skittles Commercial: The Broadway Musical” at Town Hall, starring Michael C. Hall and co-written by playwright Will Eno. But below also watch the Super Bowl commercials featuring Broadway veterans Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Chenoweth and Bob Dylan (who’s contributed songs to four Broadway musicals since 1970.)

First, watch the Skittle musical song “Advertising Ruins Everything,” recorded during rehearsals:

Listen to the full Original Cast Album, with lyrics like:

“It stalks me online like some sad lonely ex
Tracking my every move
It knows what I eat and the size of my feet
And it’s inside my brain, and I do not approve!”

The commercial for avocados featuring Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth

A beer commercial featuring Sarah Jessica Parker, in her role in Sex and the City.

Speaking of beer commercials, it’s hard to ignore this act of sacrilege by Bob Dylan

Forest Whitaker in a terrifying commercial of where Alexa could lead us

Further entertainment from  the Super Bowl: The Halftime show with Maroon 5, which features a cameo by sort-of Broadway veteran SpongeBob SquarePants.  If it’s blocked below, check out the video on the NFL YouTube site.
