Disaster Ticket Giveaway

DisasterposterUpdate: Winner, chosen at random through Random.org, is

Lourdes Pagan.

Win two free tickets to see “Disaster,” a musical written by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick  that spoofs 1970’s disaster movies. A 12-member cast including Mary Testa sing such 70’s hits as Hot Stuff, I Am Woman, and Signed Sealed Delivered.”You’ll be tickled and, despite your best judgment, probably singing along,” wrote a reviewer in the New York Times of a production of the show last year with a different cast. The musical will be presented at the St. Luke’s Theater on West 45th Street.

To enter the contest, please answer the following question:
What would you like to see spoofed on a New York stage?

1. Please put your answer in the comments at the bottom of this blog post, because the winner will be chosen through Random.org based on the order of your reply, not its content.

But you must answer the question, or your entry will not be approved for submission.

2. Please include in your answer your Twitter name and follow my Twitter feed at @NewYorkTheater so that I can send you a direct message. (If you don’t have a Twitter name, create one. It’s free.)

3. This contest ends Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at midnight Eastern Time, and I will make the drawing no later than noon the next day. You must respond to my direct message on Twitter within 24 hours or I will choose another winner.

You must also be in New York able to attend one of the eligible performances, which are  weekdays (except Thursdays) from October 14, when performances begin, until the voucher expires on November 8th.

(Since I’m choosing by the order in which you submit, please do not write me more than once.  Make sure you have all the requirements — such as your Twitter name — before submitting. All submissions have to be approved, so you won’t necessarily see your entry right away. Please be patient.)

  2. @Queerbec says:

How about a good spoof of courtroom dramas, including military court martials (“You can’t handle the truth “), re-enactments of the crime right in the courtroom, and even a character named Kalinda taking a bat to the jury box.

  3. I’d like to see “The Nanny” with Fran Drescher spoofed on the New York stage. @mymusicboxes

  4. I’d like to see a spoof of daytime court TV (People’s Court, Judy Judy, Divorce Court … ).

  6. I think a spoof of reality tv – perhaps improv style a bit – would be aweme. @randimarshall
