Teatro Fest 2026

TeatroFest 2026, a citywide festival of twenty-four productions by the ten member theaters of the Alliance of Teatros Latinos NY , launches February 27 with a free Spring Preview at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Below is a sample of the productions that will be presented during the festival, organized more or less chronologically. Some of the shows are in English, some in Spanish, some bilingual.

Spread
INTAR, Feb 21 through March 22
In this play by Jesus L. Valles, four ninth-grade boys gather at lunchtime at their high school in Austin, Texas to make “spread,” or “Texas prison brick” from their snacks – dry ramen, hot chips, beef jerky, beans, hot water, all cooked in a bag.

Hogar(es): Places We Call Home
The People’s Theater, February 28, March 7, March 8
A multilingual, community-created performance made by immigrant artists and everyday New Yorkers. Developed over 10 collaborative theatre-making sessions, the ensemble explores what “home” really means.

Argentine playwright Guido Zappacosta’s solo show delves into the intimate terrain where love, loss, and imagination collide

Teatro SEA, March 6 to 8
The eighteenth annual edition, with five brief one-acts.

In this Puerto Rican classic by Rene Marquez, three sisters are resilient in the face of adversity

Petra
ID Studio Theater, March 27 – April 19
Written by Camilo Vergara, Petra returns to New York for her father’s funeral, expecting a brief visit, but a search for meaning leads her to take a job at a juvenile correctional facility.

The Wedding March
Pregones/PRTT, April 9 – May 3
Framed by two tuxedoed male figures, a Puerto Rican woman reclaims the haunting, humorous, and formative tales passed down by generations of women before her. 

Tango 100%
TeatroCirculo, April 15 – 19
compilation of classic and new tangos in music, song and dance.
