“Sinners” received a record-breaking 16 Oscar nominations, followed by “One Battle After Another” with 13.
Several theater-related films received nods, including nine (including Best Picture) for “Sentimental Value,” which focuses on a theater actress and her film director father, and eight (including Best Picture) for “Hamnet,” a film that focuses on Shakespeare’s wife and ends with scenes from “Hamlet.” Ethan Hawke was nominated in his role as lyricist Lorenz Hart in “Blue Moon”
