"New York Times" critic Ben Brantley calls "The Ferryman" "fiercely gripping" and "the Broadway production of the year," while the "Chicago Tribune" dubs it "a sprawling, Shakespearean masterpiece." Written by Jez Butterworth and directed by Oscar and Tony Award-winner Sam Mendes, this “new, instant and monumental classic” ("HuffPost") has been ranked on more Top 10 lists than any other show. It's 1981 in Northern Ireland, and the Carney farmhouse is a hive of activity with preparations for the annual harvest. A day of hard work on the land and a traditional night of feasting and celebrations lie ahead. But this year they'll be interrupted by a visitor. The "Hollywood Reporter" says, “This crackling thriller positively thrums with life and love. It will leave you breathless," and the stellar ensemble cast is set to include Brian d'Arcy James, Emily Bergl, Shuler Hensley, Fionnula Flanagan (through April 14th) and Blair Brown (beginning April 16th), among many more. Catch "The Ferryman" at Jacobs Theatre in New York City. [less-]

The critics have crowned the new king -- and queen -- of Broadway! "New York Magazine" raves, “Genuine joy rolls off the stage in this smart, big-hearted new musical.” The "Wall Street Journal" cheers, “I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard.” And "Variety" declares, “It’s a joyous and funny original musical that reminds you what Broadway is all about!” What happens when four stars leave the bright lights of Broadway and take leading roles in a small-town controversy making national headlines? You get "The Prom", starring Tony Award nominee Brooks Ashmanskas ("Something Rotten!"), Tony Award winner Beth Leavel ("The Drowsy Chaperone") and two-time Tony Award nominee Christopher Siever ("Shrek!") leading a cast of 27, at the Longacre Theatre in New York City. Long before Carole King became a chart-topping music legend, she was Carol Klein, a girl from Brooklyn. Beloved for penning such iconic pop classics as "You've Got a Friend" and "I Feel the Earth Move," she fought her way into the record business as a teenager and ultimately flourished, writing hits for some of the biggest acts in rock 'n' roll. But it wasn't until her personal life began to crack that she finally found her true voice. "Beautiful" is the inspiring true story of King's remarkable rise to stardom, from part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. It's no surprise that "Beautiful -- The Carole King Musical" won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album of 2015. See this unforgettable show at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in New York City. When it comes to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic, the numbers are staggering -- as are the melodic score and inventive stagecraft, including a first-of-its kind falling chandelier. "The Phantom of the Opera" has won more than 50 major theater awards, including the Tony for Best Musical. It's the longest-running musical in the history of Broadway. At its core, though, this exciting tale of doomed romance has stood the test of time with its tragic love story featuring a mysterious masked man living beneath the majestic Paris Opera House who becomes obsessed with a beautiful opera singer. The soaring score features the memorable title tune, along with "Masquerade," "The Music of the Night" and "All I Ask of You," with a book based on the suspenseful French novel by Gaston Leroux. Boasting sizzling songs, seductive dance numbers and a show biz story that packs a powerful punch, "Chicago" tells the tale of convicted murderers Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, who'll stop at nothing to get the attention of the press and celebrity attorney Billy Flynn. During the showy decadence of the 1920s, their malicious crimes turn them into media darlings, producing a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which could just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids. A smash on Broadway (winning six Tony Awards) and on the big screen (winning six Academy Awards), this biting satire features the unforgettable songs of Kander and Ebb, including "All That Jazz," "Cell Block Tango" and many more hits. Enjoy this musical trip back to a time when a little razzle-dazzle made everything just fine in this dazzling production at the Ambassador Theatre in the heart of Broadway. [less-]

Puccini's fast-moving operatic thriller, "Tosca", tells the passionate, yet tragic, tale of a celebrated diva. When her lover, an idealistic artist, gets tangled up in political troubles and is pursued by the corrupt chief of police, Floria Tosca prepares to do whatever it takes to save her beloved. This tragic romance ranks among the most popular operas ever, and the world's greatest divas aspire to take on this role. During the Met's October performances, Placido Domingo will conduct and charismatic sopranos Oksana Dyka and Angela Gheorghiu will rotate in the role of Puccini's eternal diva, Tosca, opposite tenor and champion of the Italian verismo style, Roberto Aronica as her lover, the artist and revolutionary Cavaradossi. Aronica performs one of the most beautiful arias in the operatic repertoire, "E lucevan le stelle," sung by the doomed Cavaradossi as he awaits execution. With its themes of political intrigue, sexual intimidation and hypocrisy in high places, Puccini's great masterpiece rings true today through its powerfully dramatic and gorgeous music. [less-]

This sophisticated 1938 musical broke new ground with its fizzy combo of comedy and snappy dance numbers by none other than George Balanchine, not to mention its heavenly score. "I Married an Angel" follows the adventures of a lovelorn banker, who's fed up with his girlfriend's shenanigans and wishes he could have an angel for a wife -- but when his celestial desire actually appears on earth, her innocence and inability to fib get him into all kinds of unexpected trouble. Balanchine's soon-to-be-wife Vera Zorina headlined the original production and in the same spirit, director-choreographer Joshua Bergasse's production features his wife, Sara Mearns, who's making her musical-theater debut at the New York City Center after her acclaimed 2017 performance in Matthew Bourne’s "The Red Shoes". Titan closes its 10th anniversary season with the play that closed its inaugural season, Shakespeare’s "Hamlet." Considered the greatest play ever written, "Hamlet" tells the story of a Prince caught between thought and action, anger and anguish, as his uncle assumes the throne left vacant by his murdered father. When visions of the deceased king start appearing, Prince Hamlet realizes there is, indeed, “something rotten in the state of Denmark,” and it is up to him, alone, to set it right. Starring Titan co-founder and resident company member Laura Frye as Hamlet, Titan ends its milestone season in a thrilling way. [less-]

The first Broadway play written by an African-American woman, "A Raisin in the Sun" is a masterpiece that "The New York Times" credits with changing American theater forever. First produced in 1959 and adapted two years later into a now-classic film starring Sidney Poitier, "A Raisin in the Sun" is as powerful today as it was 50 years ago. Now Harlem Repertory Theatre presents the limited return of this incredible story to their stage -- a story that follows the Youngers, an African-American family attempting to move from a crowded two-bedroom apartment into a "white" neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. But a new house is just one of the Youngers' many dreams. Three generations each yearn for different versions of a better life -- whether it's a business, or a spouse, or the right to live with long-denied dignity. [less-]

Sarah is an American engineer. Kennedy is an East African taxi driver. They strike up a friendship and embark on a journey to change rural Kenya. When circumstances in the region become tense, the integrity of their alliance is questioned. "Death of a Driver" is a bracing examination of "doing good" abroad, the limits of understanding another person, and what happens when personal and political obligations collide. This world premiere stars Sarah Baskin and Patrick J. Ssenjovu, [less-]

French opera star and recording artist David Serero takes you on a journey of biblical proportions, as he stars in the American Sephardi Federation production of Giuseppe Verdi's "Nabucco" at the Center for Jewish History. Verdi's breakthrough work debuted at La Scala in 1842 and portrays the epic struggle of the Jews against the oppression of Babylon's King Nebuchadnezzar, which echoes Italy's nationalist conflict with Austria at the time. Sung in Italian and filled with romance and drama, the opera's grand and gorgeous music features famed numbers like "Immenso Jehova" (the Hebrew slaves' triumphant hymn of thanksgiving), plus one of opera's most famous choruses, "Va pensiero," considered by many to be Italy's unofficial national anthem. For more than 32 years, the mystery-thriller "Perfect Crime" has kept audiences guessing with its comic, romance-filled take on the whodunit, making it the longest-running non-musical play in New York City history. The complex, twisty story unfolds in the secluded Connecticut mansion of Harvard-educated psychiatrist Margaret Brent, who's accused of murdering her wealthy British husband, and soon finds herself tangling with a handsome detective, who may just have fallen for her. Catherine Russell has starred as Brent, missing but a scant four performances, since the show opened in 1987, earning her a spot in the "Guinness Book of World Records". [less-]
