As recent news should make abundantly clear, wearing masks is crucial for everybody — and that includes theatergoers — as part of a vigilant safety regimen that also includes social distancing and frequent hand washing. (Please read Coronavirus Face Masks & Protection FAQs  from Johns Hopkins Medicine. These masks are not intended as personal protective equipment for frontline healthcare workers.)

The masks above are available for sale from four sources. The “Vote” mask is a 1944 illustration of FDR by premiere theater illustrator Al Hirschfeld and is available at the Al Hirschfeld Foundation. (The illustration is part of a new online exhibition of Hirshfeld’s drawings of presidents, both actual ones and fictional from stage and screen.)
