2018 Tony Award Nominations: Mean Girls, SpongeBob lead

 

 

 

Mean Girls’ and `SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical’ lead nominations for the 2018 Tony Awards, with 12 nods each, followed by Angels in America, The Band’s Visit And Carousel, each with 11.

The winners of the 72nd Tony Awards will be announced in a June 10 ceremony, with hosts Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles, at Radio City Music Hall, broadcast live on CBS.

Non-competitive awards:

The Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre will be presented to Chita Rivera and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre will be awarded to photographer Sara Krulwich, costume beader Bessie Nelson, and Broadway dry cleaning service Ernest Winzer Cleaners.

The Isabelle Stevenson Award will be presented to Nick Scandalios, who is the Executive Vice President of the Nederlander Organization.

The Regional Theatre Tony Award will be awarded to La MaMa E.T.C. (Experimental Theatre Club) of New York City, which has a monetary grant of $25,000.
