Jesus Is Leaving Broadway: Sister Act, Godspell Closing, Probably Jesus Christ Superstar

Sister Act is one of four Broadway shows with religious themes that have closed or announced closing dates.
Sister Act has just announced that it will close on August 24th. Godspell will shutter June 24th. Jesus Christ Superstar said earlier this week that it will play its last performance on July 1st unless ticket sales miraculously increase.
With the quick closing of Leap of Faith, what once seemed a trend of religion — or at least religiousity — on the Great White Way is packing up and moving on.
